What knowledge, skills, and experiences have prepared you to serve as Pearland’s Mayor?
After being appointed by former Mayor Tom Reid, I served seven years on the Parks & Recreation Board, including 5 years as Chairman. I helped to deliver projects like our Sports Complex, hike and bike trails, 5 years master plans, and the Recreation Center and Natatorium.
As a Director on the Pearland Chamber of Commerce board, I’ve worked to grow our economy and secure nearly $1M in funding for job training and workforce development. And as Chairman of the Brazoria County Alliance for Children, I partnered with law enforcement to protect abused children; to raise awareness, I partnered with Pearland PD Chief Doyle to start the Pinwheel display in Pearland. As a private citizen, I partnered with physicians to start a free health clinic. My family has supported Keep Pearland Beautiful for over a decade by organizing community cleanups and adopting the space on Veterans Dr.
Professionally, my background includes degrees in Mathematics (Southern Univ. and A&M) and a Master’s in Business Administration (Bauer College of Business, Univ. of Houston), along with certifications in project management (PMP) and process improvement (6sBlack Belt). Throughout my career, I’ve helped secure our nation’s energy independence by leading large scale multi-million dollar pipeline projects. I’ve gained experience leading teams forecasting, planning, and analyzing financial projections ($1.B+) for a Fortune 100 company in bio-pharmaceutical. My experience spans construction, finance, manufacturing industries and disaster recovery.
Beyond my professional work, raising a family and staying actively involved in the community have helped shape who I am. I’ve raised my family in both Alvin ISD, and Pearland ISD, and I understand the financial impacts of decisions living on both sides, the traffic problems experienced by commuters and working families. I understand our challenges, and more importantly, I know how to get things done.
How do you see the mayor’s role in a council‑manager system where day‑to‑day administration is led by a professional city manager, and what levers of influence will you use to set policy priorities, build consensus on the council, and hold the manager and staff accountable for results. What specific fiscal priorities and advocacy actions will you pursue to keep taxes reasonable and the cost of living affordable for families?
One of the mayor’s most important roles on council is that of a representative of Pearland residents with the ability to shape discussion. As mayor, I will be a tireless advocate for working families in Pearland. I’ll direct the council to ensure that the city’s agenda reflects the needs of all residents to ensure each council member understands the impacts of their votes. As mayor, I will prioritize smart fiscal planning, and focus on expenses like our high water bills and high taxes to give relief to Pearland residents and families.
What is your philosophy on using grant funding to advance community priorities — such as expanding public transportation, developing community places, improving emergency‑notification systems, and supporting workforce and resilience projects? How do you balance actively pursuing funding tools available to the city with ensuring those projects are sustainable and deliver clear benefits to residents?
Put simply, Pearland needs to utilize every resource available to advance its community priorities and keep pace with rapid growth. However, it is important that the process results in benefits to the community. If elected, I will utilize my 20 years of experience in project management and corporate finance to make strategic decisions that are informed by data, subject matter experts, and the people who will be impacted.
Pearland is growing rapidly; how will you ensure the city consistently funds and maintains core services — roads, water, drainage, and public safety — while accommodating new development?
Pearland’s growth is an opportunity, but it requires disciplined planning and execution to ensure core services keep pace. My experience leading over $500 million in large-scale pipeline construction projects—delivered on time and under budget—has prepared me to manage exactly this kind of challenge. I’ve worked at the intersection of infrastructure, safety, and financial accountability, which is critical for sustaining roads, water systems, drainage, and public safety.
First, I would apply a data-driven, long-range capital planning approach. With my background in mathematics and experience directing corporate finance teams on forecasts exceeding $1B, I would implement robust financial models to project growth impacts, prioritize investments, and ensure sustainable funding streams. This includes aligning development approvals with infrastructure capacity and requiring fair cost-sharing from new development through impact fees and public-private partnerships.
Second, I would bring disciplined project management practices, grounded in my PMP and Six Sigma Black Belt training. That means clear scope definition, risk management, and performance tracking to deliver infrastructure projects efficiently while minimizing cost overruns and delays. These methods ensure taxpayer dollars are used effectively.
Third, safety and reliability must remain non-negotiable. Having directed work safety on major infrastructure projects, I understand how to maintain high standards while scaling operations—especially in public safety and utilities.
Finally, transparency and accountability are key. Residents deserve to know how growth is being managed and how funds are being allocated. By combining financial rigor, operational discipline, and strategic planning, I will ensure Pearland can grow responsibly while consistently funding and maintaining the core services that residents depend on.
Pearland spans three counties, has multiple ETJs, and several school districts. Some residents feel divided between older subdivisions and areas west of SH‑288. As Pearland’s Mayor, what specific commitments will you make to ensure every resident feels heard and represented?
Pearland’s strength is its people, but I recognize that geography, school districts, and development patterns can sometimes make residents feel disconnected. I take that personally because I’ve lived it. Having lived in both Alvin ISD and Pearland ISD, I understand how those differences in the school you attend, the streets you drive on and subdivisions you live in determines Pearland’s community identity. The challenges on each side of town aren’t theoretical to me; I’ve experienced them firsthand.
As Mayor, I will be committed to appointing people to boards, commissions, and advisory groups that reflect the full geographic and demographic diversity of Pearland.
I will hold regular in-person town halls in different parts of the city so residents can easily access and participate. These won’t be one-time events; they will be consistent, structured opportunities to listen, respond, and follow up. This will ensure open communication and transparency. I will use social media, digital platforms, and other tools to ensure residents are informed and heard in real time. Communication shouldn’t be just during election cycles.
My goal is to align residents from East and West Pearland around a clear, shared path forward. By ensuring every voice is heard and every community is represented, we can move beyond divisions and build a stronger, more connected city together.
How will you strengthen citywide communication and build community connections so residents feel informed, included, and connected?
It is vital that Pearland’s mayor not only listens to the residents, but actively meets them where they are to ensure that all issues are heard, and to build a culture of community participation. I am committed to representing every single one of Pearland’s residents if elected. In order to drive community engagement and ensure all of Pearland is heard, I will hold community town halls throughout the city, including ETJ’s and MUD’s.
What do you see as the city’s main challenges and opportunities over the next three years?
Pearland’s future has to be sustainable. Our water bills are some of the highest in the region, and our infrastructure continues to age as our population grows. Out biggest opportunity is our location to the best medical facility in the world and one of the nation’s top economies. The main challenge I see over the next three years is establishing, and acting on, a path forward to ease the financial burden placed on residents. I also see this challenge as one of the city’s greatest opportunities. Pearland has the opportunity to create a more affordable, more inclusive future for itself. A future rooted in impact, accountability, and having a Mayor who understands residents, both East and West, to ensure all residents are aligned on a vision that will make Pearland affordable and attractive for people to not just move here, but remain and invest in their future here.
