On Saturday, October 18, Pearland residents will gather at Ivy Park in the Lower Kirby District for the “No Kings” rally—a grassroots event affirming that power belongs to the people, not politicians who treat accountability as optional.
Hosted by local volunteers, the rally is part of a national movement pushing back against executive overreach, partisan control of institutions, and the erosion of democratic guardrails. Organizers say the event is a reminder that in America—and especially in Texas—citizens run the government, not the other way around.
Attendees can expect family-friendly programming, voter registration tables, and speeches from teachers, veterans, faith leaders, and community organizers. Topics will include affordable living, strong public schools, healthcare access, and the protection of programs like Medicare and Medicaid.
The rally runs from 12–2 PM and emphasizes nonviolent action, civic unity, and the belief that no one is above the law. As organizers put it: “We believe in checks and balances—not crowns and thrones.”
